Designed by Johnny Murphy and Richmond Hill Land Company, Oxford is located on the corner of GA Highway 144 and Spur 144, which allowed for an opportunity to create a small commercial district. The balance of the 130 acre parcel of land was designed and developed into five phases, and 117 residential lots were brought onto the market over the next three years.
By the late 1980's, Richmond Hill was gaining momentum as a bedroom community to Savannah. A small group of builders purchased the lots and marketed homes priced from $115,000 to $150,000. All homes were on interior lots.
Oxford was the first attempt to create beauty from a predominately pine forest. As the community matured, so did the landscaping, and a new variety of trees planted by owners and builders. Today, the Oxford community is very polished and values have increased with homes selling from $175,000 to the low $200,000s
